The European standard helps you choose sunglasses providing a system of filter categories that describe the darkness of the tint. These filter categories are explained below. It is important to remember that all Diesel sunglasses offer the same level of UV protection whatever the filter category.

Clear or very light tint
Recommended use - dimmed brightness
Filter category 143 - 80% light transmittance
Light tint
Recommended use - low brightness
Filter category 218 - 43% light transmittance
Medium tint
Recommended use - medium brightness
Filter category 38 - 18% light transmittance
Dark tint
Recommended use - high brightness
Filter category 43 - 8% light transmittance
Very dark tint
Recommended use - exceptionally high brightness
Categories 0 - 3 are not suitable for driving at night or under conditions of poor light
Category 4 is not suitable for driving or road use.
